Feature and Follow Friday (#17)

Feature and Follow Friday is an awesome blog-hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read

This week's features are Em @ In Which Em Reviews Books and Jessi @ Reading in the Corner and the questions is:

If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

This is a hard question to answer because there are so many characters from books (and many authors too) that I would love to meet.  Here are a few:
My first answer has to be Ash from the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa.  I love the series and I love, love, love Ash.  Can you imagine all the stories he can tell?  All that he’s seen and experienced?  Granted, he is not much of a talker, but I will probably be dumbstruck thought the whole dinner anyway.   Maybe Puck can join us, wouldn’t that be something?  I don’t think that fairies are picky eaters, so anything will do.
I would love to have tea with the Bridgertons by Julia Quinn.  Such a lively bunch, they are funny, and unique characters, that must be a great experience.
Lucius from Jessica’s Guide to Dating in the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey would make a great dinner companion and although he is a vampire, he also eats regular food.  We would have some exotic Rumania dish in his honor.
I would love to hang out with Wes from The Truth about Forever, Eli from Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, Evie from Paranormalcy…. I can keep going on and on and on…

Who would you love to have dinner with?

The second volume of Twilight: The Graphic Novelcompletes the visual adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's worldwide bestselling debut novel and is a must-have for any collector's library.

My Review

I love Twilight.  As such I read anything related to Twilight that I can get my hands on.  I was very excited for the graphic novel, although I don’t usually read them anymore (I used to read a lot of comics when I was youngerJ).  A good thing about the Twilight graphic novels is that they are not only beautiful, but they follow the story much more faithfully that the movie ever did.  I have to say that the characters look a lot more as I imagined they would  when I was reading the books that what they look like in the movies (don’t get me wrong, I love the movies too, didn’t I just said I love Twilight!)
Volume two starts right where volume one ended (after the meadow scene) and therefore is much more action packed.  Again, the art is just beautiful and the adaptation is really good too.  A must for Twilight fans!

Waiting on Wednesday: The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Title: The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman
Published by: Random House Children's Books
Release date: April 2012

It was like a nightmare, but there was no waking up.  When the night began, Nora had two best friends and an embarrassingly storybook one true love.  When it ended, she had nothing but blood on her hands and an echoing scream that stopped only when the tranquilizers pierced her veins and left her in the merciful dark.

But the next morning, it was all still true: Chris was dead.  His girlfriend Adriane, Nora's best friend, was catatonic. And Max, Nora's sweet, smart, soft-spoken Prince Charming, was gone. He was also—according to the police, according to her parents, according to everyone—a murderer.

Desperate to prove his innocence, Nora follows the trail of blood, no matter where it leads. It ultimately brings her to the ancient streets of Prague, where she is drawn into a dark web of secret societies and shadowy conspirators, all driven by a mad desire to possess something that might not even exist. For buried in a centuries-old manuscript is the secret to ultimate knowledge and communion with the divine; it is said that he who controls the Lumen Dei controls the world. Unbeknownst to her, Nora now holds the crucial key to unlocking its secrets. Her night of blood is just one piece in a puzzle that spans continents and centuries. Solving it may be the only way she can save her own life.

Why I want to read it:  This book sounds appropriate for Halloween and October, don't you think?  It does sound very interesting, intriguing, and a little creepy.  And the cover is just beautiful and disturbing at the same time.  I am just so curious about what it might bring.

What are you waiting for this week?

Top Ten Books To Read During Halloween

I take it that this means scary books. I am not one to read really scary books (I don’t watch scary movies either), so my answers might be a little disappointing to some of you. Here it goes:

Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann – The cover itself is just creepy, isn’t it?  This book is mysterious, horrifying, and sweet, all in one.
Rot and Ruin by Jonathan Maberry – This is the first zombie book I’ve read and it was incredible.  Really enjoyed it, it is a little disgusting, is action packed and full of mystery and secrets too.
Dreamhunter duet by Elizabeth Knox – After I finished these I couldn’t stop thinking about the story (and I still do!) The book has a really original plot, confusing at times, but with a good ending.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson – This is another book that had me thinking for a while after I finished.  It involves serious discussions on medical ethics, but the creepy part is that you know (just as Jenna knows) that something is not quite right, and we discover what it is just as she does.
Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent – If demons, banshees, maras, reapers and other supernatural beings is what you are looking for, look no further that the Soul Screamers series.  These books are action packed, full of romance, conflict and much more.  I love them!
Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine – Although I haven’t read the last two books in the series, I really enjoy the residents of the Glass House and their adventures (or misadventures?)
Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce – This book has a dark undertone to it and it is one of the few books around in which werewolves are the bad guys.  It is also action packed and has some kick-ass heroines.
The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross – Why is this book in this list you ask?  Well, it does have some weird characters, wouldn't you agree?  It also has plenty of scary things happening.  Loved it!
Harper Connelly or Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris – Technically this is not one book, but several and adult reading as well, but I really enjoy the Harper Connelly series and the first books about Sookie as well.  They are also full of creepy stuff!
Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows by J. K. Rowling – For some reason Halloween reminds me of Harry Potter, and what better book in the series than the last one!
What good "Halloween" books are on your list?
