Hi gorgeous people!  I skipped Stacking the Shelves last week, well....because life happens and I was too busy cleaning and cooking (I'll have a post about that soon!)  Here's two weeks worth of books; and let me tell you that I must have been a pretty good girl this year because Santa outdid himself! Thank you Santa! (*wink*)

Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin - I saw this book in Goodreads and couldn't help but get it.  It sounds so good!

Just for Now by Rosalind James - I got this one for a blog tour (coming next week), looks good, right? 

Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes - I received this ARC for review this week, it sounds really interesting.  Thank you to Egmont for the opportunity.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor  - This was my favorite read last year, but I didn't have my own copy. Now I do!

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - I've also seen wonderful reviews of this one.

Defiance by C.J. Redwine  - Such a lovely cover, can't wait!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - Another book that everyone seems to love.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - A co-worker recommended this one and although the cover is a bit off-putting to me, I'm giving it a try.

Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Bringing Me

These are some of the books that I would love Santa bringing me, some of these I've read already, but I don't have my own copy. 

1.  Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - I've heard wonderful things about this book and it has a great rating in Goodreads too.


2.  My Life Next Door by Hutley Fitzpatrick - Such a cute looking cover and sweet story.  I have been waiting to get my hands on this one.

3.  Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore - Need I say more?

4.  Iron Fey box set and The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa - This is one of my favorite series evern, but I have them all for Kindle.  I would love to have paper copies of them.

5.  Matched trilogy by Ally Condie - I've also heard wonderful things about this series, and I would love to find out what all the fuss is about. 

6.  Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor - I adore this book and I have a lovely hardcover copy of Days of Blood and Starlight. I would love a copy of book #1 to match it.

7.  Defiance by C.J. Redwine - What can I say? I just love this cover!

8.  Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - I good friend of mine read this one a few months ago and still talks about it.  Most be good, right?

9.  Cinder by Marissa Meyer - I've also soon spectacular reviews for this book and I'll love if Santa can indulge.

10. Works of Jane Austen - I have a few of Jane Austen's books, but not all of them.  I think my bookshelves would look amazing with a pretty matching set.

What a week!  I sure I'm glad is almost over (I just have to survive today :) I won't bore you with the details, but lets say it involves a flat tire while going home at rush hour on 295, being stuck in traffic due to the Grand Prix (in Baltimore this weekend), an infection and an adverse reaction to the antibiotics to cure said infection.  Anyway!  It was also my birthday and I had a good time that day.

I didn't buy a lot of books this week because I'm planning on attending the Baltimore Book Festival (September 28-30) and the National Book Festival (in DC, September 22-23) and I need to save my money for that.

The Calling by Kelley Armstrong - I love Ms. Armstrong's Darkest Powers series and really enjoy The Gathering, can't wait to listen to this book :)

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore - This books needs no introduction or explanation, right?

Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti - Looks like a romantic sort of book...

Wings of Shadow by Anna Kyss - I believe this book was free for Kindle, I just fell in love with the cover.

Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon - This book sounds like so much fun!

Inbetween by Tara A. Fuller - I've heard good things about this one.

Foretold: 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction edited by Carrie Ryan - This is an anthology from fabulous authors, like Richelle Meade, Lisa McMann, Laini Taylor, Meg Cabot and more.  Is bound to be amazing!

Enchanted by Alethea Kontis - Can't resist a fairy tale re-telling or that beautiful cover.

I also received a beautiful Vera Bradley messenger bag and matching lunch box from hubby and kids.

Top Ten Most Vivid Settings in Books

1.  The Nevernever from The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa - The world of fairy, with all its differences, Spring, Winter and Iron realms, ports, forests, and amazing beings.

2.  Dystopian Chicago from Divergent by Veronica Roth - Not only do we get a vivid setting, but an equally amazing description of how society functions and behaves.

3.  Panem from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - I bet anyone that have ever read this book is amazed by the differences in each district and outraged by the abundance of the Capitol. 

4.  Avalon from Wings by Aprilynne Pike - Another fairy world, but very different from number one, but not less vivid.

5.  Paris from Die for Me by Amy Plum - In this series, Paris is another character, it comes alive in the story.

6.  Paris from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Isn't the setting one of the best things about this book?  I felt like I was exploring with Anna.

7.  Cousins Beach from The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han - Not only is the beach a major part of this series, but so is the house; I bet I can draw a map of the house by now!

8.  The Underworld from Abandon by Meg Cabot - Cabot's underworld is not such a scary place; just lonely and barren.

9.  Godspead from Across the Universe by Beth Revis - For a spaceship, we probably know by now every nook and cranny, right?

10. Seven Kingdoms from Graceling by Kristin Cashore - Cashore's world is incredible, it you haven't read this series, get on it!

Kristin Cashore eSampler by Kristin Cashore - I've read Graceling and Fire and, of course, I cannot wait for Bitterblue.  This sampler has exclusive content, from Kristin's blog: "plus an extra thingamajig: some (silly!) letters that Bitterblue, Katsa, Raffin, Bann, and Po wrote to each other during the spring before Bitterblue's 18th birthday (in other words, in the spring before the events of Bitterblue take place)."

Yesterday by C.K. Kelly Martin - This promises to be an amazing addition to dystopian books everywhere.

Shadowfell by Juliet Marillier - This appears to be a fey related fantasy and it sounds truly amazing, can't wait to read it!

Velveteen by Daniel Marks - Look at this cover!  Pretty awesome, right? And the premises of the book are great too, I'm curious to read a book where the main character is already dead :(

Flutter by Gina Linko - Flutter sounds like a great read, it has to do with time travel and there is a mystery involved too.

Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan - An imaginary friend turned real boy, sound like a fairy tale :)

9.  Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris - Although the past two books were a bit disappointing, I can't help but wishing I have book 12 of the the Southern Vampire series in my hand right now!

Top Ten Books I'm Excited to Read in 2012

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

There are a lot of books in my to-be-read pile (just look in Goodreads!), but I think a lot of the books I want to read next year are sequels to series I already started (and there are too many to count).  Here are some of the books that I excited to read this year:

1.  Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton  - The sequel to Angelfire, one of my favorite books last year.

2.  Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel - I have been waiting for this book forever! Infinite Days was published in August of 2010 and the sequel is not due for publication until September, almost two years later!

3.  The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting - This will be book number three of the Body Finder series. Violet and Jay are one of my favorite couples ever!

4.  Insurgent by Veronica Roth - LOVED Divergent, need I say more?

5.  Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey - This is another book that is taking forever to get here!  It is the sequel to Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side which I loved.

6.  The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross - I really enjoy steampunk and specially The Girl in the Steel Corset.  I'm ready for the next American adventure!

7.  Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore - If you'd read Fire or Graceling I don't have to explain, right?

8.  My Life Next Door by Huntley Firtzpatrick - A contemporary YA romance, I love these.

9.  Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers - The cover is so cool, I like the image of a kick ass heroine.

10. A Million Suns by Beth Revis - What else can happen on board of the spaceship Godspeed?
