Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
Rebels in literature are those people who stood up for what they beleived in despite of the cost of doing so.
1. Katniss from 'The Hunger Games' - this is the first character that comes into mind when I think of a rebel. Even though she was sort of chosen to be an inpiration to others, she fullfilled and surpassed others expentations.
2. Harry Potter and others from the Order of the Phenix (specially Severus Snape) - Many characters in the series are rebels against the Dark Lord and his oppression. The unsung heroes that finally stopped Voldemort.
3. Trella from 'Inside Out' - Trella is tough-as-nails and willing to die for what she believes and to defends those she loves.
4. Alex from 'Perfect Chemistry' - Alex believed that there could be life beyond the 'gang' and paid a high price in order to be a better example to his brothers and to be with Brittany.
5. Scarlett O'Hara from 'Gone with the Wind' - Her motives or the means she used to get what she wanted were not always noble, but Scarlett got the job done and defended what was hers. Always.
6. Rose Hathaway from the 'Vampire Academy' series - Another kick-ass heroine that gave everything for Lissa and the ones she loved. Even if it meant breaking a few rules along the way.
7. Scarlett March from 'Sisters Red' - She literary fought her nightmares every day of her life with unshakalble convinction and strenght.
8. Samwise 'Sam' Gamgee from 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy - To me Sam has always been the unsung hero of the tale. He took care of Frodo so he could carry the burden of the ring and put an end to the rule of Sarudon.
9. Ash from 'The Iron Daughter' - Ash had very strong beliefs that took centuries to learn and live by, but when Meghan came along he renounced to everything to be her night *sigh*
10. Tris from 'Divergent' - I finished this book a couple of days ago and *WOW* what a great read. Tris is the definition of rebel in my book.
What's on your list?
Great list! We have a few in common. I also loved Divergent :)
ReplyDeleteloved your list--especially Scarlet O'Hara! Kaye—the road goes ever ever on
ReplyDeleteI considered adding Scarlett -- she's such a strong character -- but she seems more selfish than anything else. She certainly does rebel against convention, though.
ReplyDeleteGreat Choices.
ReplyDeleteSam is so under rated in LOTR.
Here's my Top Ten
Great choice of Ash. He really had to give up a lot to fight with Meghan.
