Feature and Follow Friday

Feature and Follow Friday is an awesome blog-hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison CanRead

We always talk about books that WE want. Let’s turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?

Recently I gave one of my best friend's daughter turned 15 years old (a bid deal in Hispanic culture), I gave her a gift card and two books: Divergent by Veronica Roth and Defiance by C.J. Redwine.

I've also had two giveaways recently and the winners selected to receive: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.

I also let selected people borrow my books, but that's another story...

What have to gifted lately?

Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

These are books that I have sitting in my bookshelves patiently waiting to be read.  I'm so far behind that's not even funny!  I am determined, whoever to get caught up (see here if you doubt me).

I have a signed ARC of this book!

I need to know the ending!

Love Daughter of Smoke and I'm sure this one is just as good.

I love Julie's writing, I need to read this one :)

With the conclusion coming soon, I need to get caught up!

No explanation needed, right?

I've heard wonderful things about this one.

Ditto

Ditto again. Really!  In so many best of 2012 lists!

Just the cover makes me want to read it :)

What is in your Top Ten this week?

Waiting on Wednesday: Defience by C.J. Redwine

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
in which we have the opportunity to let others know about books that we are eagerly waiting for.

Title: Defiance by C.J. Redwine
Published by: Balzer & Bray
Release date: August 28, 2012

Within the walls of Baalboden, beneath the shadow of the city’s brutal leader, Rachel Adams has a secret. While other girls sew dresses, host dinner parties, and obey their male Protectors, Rachel knows how to survive in the wilderness and deftly wield a sword. When her father, Jared, fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector, her father’s apprentice, Logan—the same boy Rachel declared her love for two years ago, and the same boy who handed her heart right back to her. Left with nothing but fierce belief in her father’s survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself. But treason against the Commander carries a heavy price, and what awaits her in the Wasteland could destroy her.

At nineteen, Logan McEntire is many things. Orphan. Outcast. Inventor. As apprentice to the city’s top courier, Logan is focused on learning his trade so he can escape the tyranny of Baalboden. But his plan never included being responsible for his mentor’s impulsive daughter. Logan is determined to protect her, but when his escape plan goes wrong and Rachel pays the price, he realizes he has more at stake than disappointing Jared.

As Rachel and Logan battle their way through the Wasteland, stalked by a monster that can’t be killed and an army of assassins out for blood, they discover romance, heartbreak, and a truth that will incite a war decades in the making.
Why I want to read it: Defiance sounds like a great fantasy read with a reluctant male character and a daring female lead.  The cover is gorgeous too!
