Top Ten Misleading Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's Top Ten is a freebie, so I decided to give you my top ten list of misleading covers.  What I mean by that is that I wouldn't' have picked the book just based on the cover, but it turned out to be a pretty good book.

One of the best books I've read this year!

What is in your Top Ten this week?  Do you judge a book by it's cover?

  1. Loved Blood Red Road! I thought I am Number Four could have been better, but I expected worse. I'm planning to read The Power of Six soon. I want to read TFIOS, but it just seems so sad.

  2. I am such a cover whore. Sadly, I probably wouldnt pick up any of these based of the covers alone. Might have to read the first one. Have read nothing but good things about it. The cow one is just funny! Great topic.

  3. I can totally see what you mean with these - I hate it when awesome books have covers that don't do them justice! Great post!

  4. I'm so bad at judging books by their covers! I've seen a few before, but just ignored them. Now that I know they're good I might need to give them a second chance!

  5. Covers are very important to me. Dairy Queen is a book I've passed over fifty times because the cover doesn't appeal to me.

My biggest boo-boo with a cover came when I saw a man, all alone, giving away ARC copies of his first book at a library conference. The cover was awful, but I felt sorry for him and took one.

I don't know why, but I decided to give that awful book a try one night and I was amazed to discover that I couldn't put it down! It was Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan!

  6. Great list! I love that you did this one. I definitely agree with you on most of these.

One of the most misleading covers in my book is Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I was not expecting the book to be like it was after seeing it. I still loved it though.

  8. I love TFioS, but the cover is definitely misleading. I have a different cover on my copy of Dairy Queen which is much better. Great list idea!

  11. The problem with most of those covers is that they're not horrible, but they're boring. It's a shame, as they are covering up some great books.
