Bookish Event: Annapolis Book Festival

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to go, for the first time, to the Annapolis Book Fair.  This yearly event takes place at the Key School; you can find more information about it here.  I have to say, that I was very impressed with the event, how organized everything was, the diversity of activities available and how

big the ground were.  I think next year I will bring “B” and “C” to enjoy it.

I got there around 11:00 and had a chance to visit the Scholastic Book Fair (got a book for “C”) and also an impressive used book sale (I restrained myself and only purchased three books).  I got lunch and then walked over to the site of the YA panel and there I found blogger extraordinaire Hannah, from The Irish Banana (you can see Hannah’s review of the event here).  After emailing back and forth and commenting in each other’s blog, it was nice to meet her in person and actually talk to her.  We grabbed front row seats to the event about 30 minutes before it started and quickly realized that other bloggers were sitting near us.  We meet Jen from Jenuine Cupcakes and YABC, Stephanie from Cuddlebuggery and Jenn from The Bawdy Book Blog, Hi everyone!

It’s always so nice to meet other bloggers and book lovers in the area (more about this in Hannah’s review).   The event itself was titled “The World of Fantasy in Young Adult Novels” and the moderator was Jon Skovron.  He is hilarious, and by his own admission, not at all shy!  Also in attendance were Brigid Kremmerer, author of the Elemental series (Storm and Spark), Lea Nolan, author of Conjure, and Jessica Spotwood, author of the Cahill Witch Chronicles (Born Wicked). 

They each took turns reading from their books, which was quite captivating.  Jon read from his upcoming book Man Made Boy, and it sounds so funny (or maybe is the way he read it, with voices and all!).  There was time for questions and plenty of laughs. 

After the panel I got my books signed and also some swag too.  I have to say that all of the authors were amazing, so approachable and sweet. I’m so fortunate to live in an area where we have some many talented authors do signings and appearances, and interact with their adoring fans (I’m talking about me, of course!)
