Top Ten Things That Make My Life Easier as a Reader and Book Blogger

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

Talk about being thrown in at the deep end! My blogging and reading life are very interconnected, so almost everything on this list applies to both. How many of them appear on your list?

1. Libraries
I cannot express how much I love libraries. Not only do I have a fantastic local library to frequent, I have a fantastic local librarian there to go with it! Can you where we'd be without them? Book lovers would be deprived of a refuge, readers of all ages would be turned away where they expected open arms. My reading life would be radically different without libraries - in fact, it could even be non-existent - and I'd be left without one of my favourite places in the world to be.

2. Bookshops
Independent, chain, pop-up: I love bookshops of all kinds. There's no better feeling than being able to pluck a book off a shelf and hold it immediately in your hands. Good bookshops are valuable commodities and they stay with you for life.

3. Other readers
This one is easy. Some people think reading is a solitary pastime, but in truth reading makes you part of one of the biggest communities in the world. I'd be nowhere without other readers to talk to, and I wouldn't have nearly as much fun!

4. Audiobooks
I know audiobooks are a bit of a controversial subject, but personally I love them. On days when I can't or don't want to read a physical book, they're the perfect way to keep enjoying good stories. I'm lucky some of my favourite books have great audio versions, too.

5. Goodreads
I don't know about you, but without Goodreads, both my blogging and reading life would be totally different. It's where I find new books, keep track of my current reads, and log my reviews after they've been written.

6. My blogging notebook
If there's one thing you do to change your blogging life today, make it getting a blogging notebook. Goodreads is great, but there's nothing like being able to carry your notes around with you and add to them at any time.

7. Other bloggers
I love the blogosphere. It's a brilliant place. When I first started blogging there were less book bloggers than there are now, but I've met so many great people since then I can't imagine still being a blogger today without them.

8. Awesome writers
This one's pretty straightforward - without writers we wouldn't have books, and without books we'd have absolutely nothing to blog about!

9. Awesome publishers
Seriously, I love publishers who interact with the blogging community! Bloggers wouldn't have anything to do without willing publishers, so I think they deserve a thank-you, too.

10. Twitter
Of all ten resources on this list, Twitter is the latest addition to the bunch - but it's already become a big part of blogging life! Feel free to follow me @Ariannebooklove and join in the conversation!

Thank you Arianne for this week's Top Ten Tuesday topic :) A lot of these are in my own list. I would add to the list: Facebook, my Outlook calendar (it's even color coded!), and Bloglovin' (I'm not making another Top Ten list!)

  1. I see we all used Goodreads this week! It's a really good tool and I don't know what I'd do without it.
As for the notes, I see a lot of people keep them and have calendars, but I don't need one, so far. Or I'm just so disorganized? Haha :D
