Top Ten Books I Was "Forced" to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

Hi there gorgeous people!  Here's Arianne's Top Ten Books that she was "Forced" to read

1. To Kill AMockingbird by Harper Lee
This was a required reading book for school – I loved it, but I never would have picked it up of my own free will outside of class!

I was given this book as a gift – but it took me ages to get around to reading it. Needless to say, it was the best decision of my YA reading life.

3.  Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor
Another required reading. This one is less well-known that To Kill a Mockingbird, but it deals with similar issues and topics, and I ended up reading the whole series.

4.  Die for Me by Amy Plum
I know so many people who love this series! I could never track it down but I finally found it this year and enjoyed it a lot.

5.  Gone by Michael Grant
Somehow, Michael Grant’s FAYZ has become standard teen reading – but when I was persuaded to read it by some friends, I didn’t really fall in love with it.

6. This Kissing Game (short story anthology by Aidan Chambers)
This was the first short story anthology I really enjoyed. I was sent it for review and though I’d never liked short stories for pleasure before, I thought it was fantastic.

7. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
This was recommended by my local librarian – and after a long string of thrillers and action-adventures, it was a real blessing in disguise!

We weren’t forced to read this for school, but it was encouraged. Needless to say, I recommend it everyone.

9. Divergent by Veronica Roth
I always have trouble admitting this, but I never hugely anticipated Divergent. I read it on the urging of my friends and fellow bloggers, but it’ll never be one of my friends.

10. The Program by Suzanne Young
I’ll admit it: I was totally taken in by the hype on this one. It didn’t become one of my favourites, but I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a YA read with a difference. It’s totally unlike anything else out there right now.

And those are my Top Ten Books I was ‘Forced’ To Read! What are yours? Let us know in the comments!
