Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

Okay gorgeous people, get your box of tissues ready and lets see some of the books that have made me cry:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - Boy, did this one made me cry!  It's still one of the best books I've ever read and the movie was not too bad either (see my review here).

A Walk to Remember (and any other book) by Nicholas Sparks - This one was the first book by Sparks that I read and I remember crying so bad that I had to hide so my kids didn't get upset.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Another AMAZING read.  I was expecting it to be sad due to the subject matter, but I didn't expected to cry that much.  In fact, I read this book once I got home after surgery and I thought I was going to pop something open because I was crying so hard! (See my review here). Oh, and if you haven't seen the trailer for this movie, where've you been?

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay - An outstanding story of loss and second chances. You are doing youselves a disfavor by not picking up this book. This is also one of the best audio books I've listen to. (See my review here).

The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler - I still haven't review this one, but it is really good.  It was recommended to me by my wonderful helper and reviewer Arianne, does she know me or what?  Anyway, The Book of Broken Hearts is a story about family dynamics, about first love and great lost.

The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder - An incredibly good book, full of heartache, expectations, change, and more. (See my review here).

The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa - Towards the end of this book (#3 in the series), I thought that Meghan was going to die and I did cry.  Also, the ending was so sad... thank goodness for book #4!

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson - This is another favorite of mine, a book of loss and those who are left behind; and of first love.  Lyrical, poetic, beautiful.

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling - I think someone significant died from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on and I probably cried in each one of them.  However, the last book was the one that hit me the hardest!

The Friday Night Knighting Club by Kate Jacobs - The plot of this book is so twisted that I never saw it coming and it hit me like a punch to the stomach.  I cried so bad that hubby couldn't look at me without shaking his had for days after.

What is in your Top Ten this week?

  2. Oooh, good list! The Book Thief and TFiOS made me cry so bad haha. As did Harry Potter, the seventh book definitely hit me the hardest! A Walk to Remember didn't make me cry but it is so touching and so sad! It was my first Nicholas Sparks book too, and it's still my favourite of the ones I've read.

  4. In total agreement about The Book Thief and tears. I remember being a mess. I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars, but I'm rethinking that right about now. What a good trailer!

  6. This is a really great list. AND OMG THAT TRAILER. Just thinking about it gets me all emotional and such.

I really loooooved the family dynamics in The Book of Broken Hearts. I'm a daddy's girl, so their relationship was really touching.

  8. I forgot about The Iron Queen, but I think I cried at the end of that one too. Harry Potter and The Fault in Our Stars were both on my list, though.
