What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption
of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?
Normally, I really enjoy movie adaptations, but when I see them I know that I'm watching a movie and not reading a book. What I mean by this is that, if I start comparing every detail that was changed, left out, or altered, I'll drive myself crazy!
Some of the movies that I think will be very hard to live up to the book are: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa (I mean no actor can match Ash, right?), and The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater. I can probably mention many more, but this is good for now :)
How about you? What books wouldn't make a good enough movie?
Hi! I'm a new follower hopping by!
ReplyDeleteLovely answer! I haven't read The Iron Fey series but I understand how sometimes there can't be an actor who could play a character because that character is just epic.

I'm terrible for trying to spot differences and leave-outs when I've read the book and seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the Iron Fey series - nothing can compare to my mental version of the Nevernever, and you're right - wrong actor, and Ash would be forever ruined for me!

Oh, I would have to agree about the Wolves of Mercy Falls. However, I would really love to see someone put their whole heart into it and make it work. That would be totally amazing! Here's my FF
ReplyDeleteStill need to read Daughter of.. but I agree when it comes to the rest! :D

I agree with you 100% on the books and series you mentioned. I want to add The Hunger Games to that list...The movie was really good but the book was infinately better. And I too am a big sucker for book to movie adaptations.

Daughter of Smoke and bone would be hard with making characters like brimstone. I agree with Iron Fey series too. There would be lots of computer editing needed. My F&F
ReplyDeleteI definitley agree with you with Daughter of Smoke & Bone and The Iron Fey series. How could any director re-create Karou's magical world? And I haven't seen any actor that could possibly play Ash.

Hopping through. I think the Shiver books might be good movies. I would be much more nervous about John Green's book.
