Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

To me, one of the big parts of my bookish life is my blog, so I added some of my blog related goals as well.

From: http://davidgaughran.wordpress.com
1.  Don't buy as many books - I spend a lot of money on books.  Not only do I have a lot of physical books (I now have four bookshelves!), but I also buy a lot of electronic books. The sad part is that I don't have time to read all of them, especially when so many new awesome books come along all the time.

2.   Finish the series - Over the years I started a lot of series that I haven't finished yet (see my personal challenge here).  Not only that, but many YA series end this year, such as Across the Universe, Divergent, Abandon, Blue Bloods, Unearthly, Wither, etc.

3.  Read a few classics - I know that with the many books waiting on my shelves I probably will not have time to read many classics  but I hope to at least read a few.

4.  Get more audio books - I plan to listen to more books on CD and on my MP3 player.

5.  Update my blog's design - I love my design, but it is a year old already, so I plan to contact the designer to make a few changes.

6.  Go to more events - I went to BEA and to the DC Book festival last year and had a blast.  I hope that I can go to more events and book signings this year.

7.  Comment more and get involved in the community - Book bloggers are awesome people to know!  I plan to visit more blogs and comment on their posts.

8.  Keep my shelves organized - Hubby and I had to go to Ikea last week to get another Billy bookshelf, that makes a total of four.  I organized all the YA books by author, but I still have to organize my adult books and of course keep it all in order!

9.  Read review copies promptly - Because I hate to procrastinate and feel pressured to post something right away!

10.  Post more discussions - I love to pose questions to my readers and get their input and of course share my own views.

On a personal note, hubby and I are trying to loose some weight, exercise more and eat healthier (so far, so good ;)

What are your bookish goals? Do we share any?  How about personal goals?

  1. I have the same goal regarding buying books. I tend to go overboard and then never read the books I buy.

    Good luck!

  2. Oh, I recognize some goals! Finish my series and read some classics are definitely two things I want to do. And read my review copies from Netgalley right away, because sometiems I forget about them. Good luck :)!

  3. Love these goals! Especially the discussion ones! You're right - it's great to get to know your readers and their thoughts on a more personal level.

And I'm with you about buying books. I have over a HUNDRED sitting on shelves, in boxes, and stacked that I bought and didn't read. I feel so lazy. And yet I keep buying more.

Go to more events!!!! Yes!!! This year I want to do BEA (obviously), the Baltimore Book Festival again, and try to hit the DC one, too. And in 2014 I'm going to ALA MidWinter - it's in Philly!

  4. Great goals! I'm also going to try to buy not so many books. I didn't put "read more classics" on my list, but I definitely should!

Good luck with reaching your goals!

  5. I really need to stop buying so many books, especially if I don't read them straight away! Discussion posts are something I definitely want to introduce more of on my blog, because I love the interaction that they create. Good luck with your goals!

  6. Awesome goals, Liza, and I can definitely relate with some of them. You would probably believe the amount of books that are present on my shelves that have yet to be read. So I'm going to do my best to read more of them and refrain from buying new ones (unless there's a signing at which point all bets are off). Good luck with achieving your goals this year! :)

  7. Great list!! I have reorganizing my office on my planned projects this year. I hope it will help me tackle my Top Ten list, including the cataloging and reading of my TBR pile. Happy Reading!

  8. It's so hard to stop buying books when they're all so pretty and there are always new ones being released. I totally get this! Good luck with all your goals :)
