Top Ten Books I'd Recommend To Someone Who Wants a Taste of Everything Young Adult!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

Sometimes it can seem like YA is completely ruled by one genre or another. When I'm recommending YA to my friends, though, I try to recommend something that will really mean something to them - and I'm not just talking about books everyone else is reading. We've all heard about John Green and JK Rowling. But for those who maybe don't read as much as we do, and might not have heard about all the great books that are out there? It's our duty as book bloggers to shed light on some of the YA favourites others could be missing out on.

So without further ado, here's my Top Ten Crash Course in All Things YA...

1. The One With The Happiness and the Families and All the Love: My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

2. The Off-The-Beaten Track Contemporary: The Beginning ofEverything by Robyn Schneider

3. That One Undefinable Book Nobody Has Read but Really Really Should: Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

4. The Best of the Rebels and the Leaders and the Realism: Legend by Marie Lu

5. The One That's Actually Adult But Y'all Should Read It Anyway: Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

6. The One About the Guy Mermaid (Because Why Not?): TheVicious Deep by Zoraida Cordova

7. The One You'll Either Love or Hate: Adorkable by Sarra Manning

8. The One Written In A Way You Never Knew Was Possible: Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers

9. That One Historical Fiction You'll Always Cry At (and Never Get Bored Of): Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

10. And Finally, The One That Totally Punches Above Its Weight in The Fantasy Zone: The Poison Throne by Celine Kiernan

Awesome list from Arianne, right?  I have to confess that I haven't read all of these (even though I have some of them *looks at her feet*).  Have you read any of these?  What are your recommendations?

  1. Cool list! I also haven't read all of these, but I've got most on my TBR. I really do want to read Life As We Knew It and The Vicious Deep in particular.

  2. I really need to read The Beginning of Everything! Hope I find time soon, because everyone says it's amazing. Legend is a great pick, I still haven't read Champion but I'll get to it soon!

  4. This is a fantastic list! I've read a couple of these books, but not a lot of them, so I'll definitely have to check out the ones I haven't gotten round to yet soon.

  6. I totally agree. We should be recommending the awesome books that fly more under the radar! My Life Next Door was SO good, I didn't want it to end! Life on the Refrigerator Door looks so different and I've wanted to read Adorkable for so long it seems!
