Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish
Being a blogger is hard work, but well worth it if done for
the right reasons. Here are some of the
things I love about it:
1. Getting to share
something I love – Hubby has many qualities, but he is firmly in the
non-reader camp (see more about that here).
“B” loves to read and we do discuss
books, but that’s it. My family is all
in Puerto Rico and not many of my close friends love it as I do. Where else can I spill my guts about books
and not get that glossy-eyed look?
2. I love to spread the
word – I love to let others know about my favorite reads, new books, new
authors and old favorites. Either by
participating in blog tours or by sharing a review.
3. Learning about new
books – The fact that I’m a book blogger has created a lot of awareness
about books that I would otherwise not know about. Before Reading
with ABC, I did follow other blogs and posted short reviews in Goodreads,
but now I make it a point to search for the next great read.
4. Meeting like-minded
people and other bloggers – The book blogging community is awesome! I won’t say that everyone would receive
others with open arms, but most do.
After all, we are obsessed love the same things.
5. Opens the door for
book events – I have been to several book signings, festivals, and this will
be my third time going to BEA. I love
all them all! The relaxed and the
frenzied.
6. Meeting authors –
Authors are rockstars! They are, for the
most part, approachable and eager to talk the same bookish language, to talk about their
books, their characters and their journey.
I have met so many and it is always a privilege to do so.
7. The opportunity to
share things about my life – Although we blog books, I do share other
non-book related things here and in social media.
8. The possibility of ARCs - Please be aware that is not the reason whey I went into blogging. If you follow my Stacking the Shelves posts you know that I do buy many books and there are weeks when I don't get any. However, being a bloggers grants you the privilege to requests review copies and a shot at being approved. It is always so awesome to get to read those eagerly awaited stories!
9. People know what to get as a gift - Yep, most people know that a gift card from Amazon or from a bookstore will make this girl happy!
