15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 10

The 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge is hosted by Good Books and Good Wine

How Do You Choose What Book to Read Next?

It depends…  On what?  Well, glad you ask!

If I request a book (which I don’t do very often) or if I’m participating in a Blog Tour (as I am today!), then I feel a commitment to read the book.  This is one of the reasons for with I try to limit myself to do no more than three to four blog tours a month (you can read of other reasons in this post), otherwise I don’t have the time to fit other books into my schedule.

I also try to read (or listen to) my library books first.  I keep telling myself to stop going to the library; I mean, I have more than enough to read at home, probably more than I would ever be able to read, but I don’t seem able to listen to myself.  You know how in cartoons there is a little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other, that’s exactly what is like!  One says “you don’t need more books Liza” and other voice says “are you crazy? You know you want to read it, just take it!”

When I don’t have any commitments I am mostly a ‘mood reader’.  That means that I read what I feel like reading.  Sometimes I feel like I need to read a romance, other times I feel like re-reading an old favorite.  I try to have a mix of books in my immediate TBR pile, such as ARCs, sequels and catch up in the books that have been patiently waiting on my shelf for a while.   I also try to keep up with my favorite blogs and read the books that my trusted friends recommend.

How do you choose your next read?

  1. I so know what you mean. It's insane how many unread books I have combined on my Kindle and at home. Almost a thousand!!! But can I stop buying or visiting bookstores and libraries? Never! Hate that.... or maybe not. ;)

  2. Bahaha...I know that angel/devil feeling. I used to be bad and give into my devilish cravings, but now I'm trying to think clearly about book buying. So far it's working.

  3. I've managed to only do 1 blog tour a month this summer, however I cannot keep my damn fingers off the request button on Netgalley. They all look so PRETTY!

I feel guilty that I read 3 books a week on average and I find myself having to renew my library books cause I can't finish one within 3 weeks. And the worst part is that they're SOO GOOD! I just have so many books to read.
