Reflections of a Book Blogger

This is the time of year that I usually write a post about the total of books I read, how I did in my year’s challenges and what my goals are for next year.  This post will have some of these things and a few more.

The year is not quite over yet, but the total books I’ve read is 87.  Am I happy with this number?  Yes! You can find a discussion about this topic here, but the bottom line is that I’m happy with however many books I manage to read.  It’s a lot more that other are able to read.

In past years I have participated in many book challenges, but I made the decision of not participating in any challenges in the upcoming year. Why?  Even if I love them, and I try to do my own this year, the truth is that I’m horrible at it.  I tried to track them as faithfully as I can using labels, but I rarely go back to the sponsoring blog to enter my progress, I rather spend my time blogging and reading :)

For similar reasons, I will try to limit the number to blog tours I participate on.  That’s not to say that I won’t do them because I love them and I love to promote authors and give readers the opportunity to win books, BUT  once I accept a blog tour, it locks me into a reading schedule that sometimes is not easy for me to attain (you can read more about that here).

I did manage to go to BEA this year and I hope to do the same again in the upcoming year.  I was able to go to many incredible events and book signings right here in my area.  In January, I will be attending the ALA Midwinter conference in Philadelphia, which will be a new experience for me.

At the same time I want to say thank you to all my readers, followers and book minded people that stop by Reading with ABC.  To Hannah, Jen, Christina, Steph, Andye and other members of YADC. Also, to the many authors I’ve met this year, including the wonderful Jennifer Armentrout, Brigid Kemmerer, Diana Peterfreund, Jodi Meadows, Valerie Cole, and Lea Nolan.

Special thanks to Arianne that helps me out with memes and reviews all the way from Ireland. Also, to my family that excuse my absentmindedness when I’m lost in a book and understand when mami is sitting in front of the computer on ‘her blog again’.

To all of you, have an amazing 2014!!!!
